The Federal Reserve’s most recent annual household survey found 49% of adults under the age of 30 still live with their parents. That’s up from 43% in 2022 and 37% in 2019.

The 2025 survey also found that just under half of young adults between the ages of 18 and 29 received some outside financial help last year and that financial well-being declined for young adults, as well as for low-income families and Black Americans, from a year earlier.
The job market posed another barrier, with 25% of people under 30 saying they weren’t working at all or were working part-time because they couldn’t find adequate work.
Eleven percent of Denver adults ages 25-34 lived with a parent in 2023, census data shows. Nationally, that share has increased since 1970, peaking for men at 22% in 2020 and for women at 13.6% last year.
